Common Questions

Yes. As a dual board-certified nurse practitioner with DEA registration including X-waiver, I have full prescriptive authority in California — including controlled substances when clinically appropriate.
Both. Sessions integrate evidence-based therapeutic techniques alongside medication management — so you're not bouncing between a therapist and a prescriber. You get one clinician who sees the full picture.
Your initial evaluation is 60 minutes of dedicated, one-on-one time with your provider. We'll review your full history, current symptoms, what's worked, what hasn't, and your goals. You'll leave with a clear treatment plan — not a prescription and a door.
Yes. F10 Psychiatry treats adolescents (typically ages 13+) and adults. James has specific training and clinical experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, including work at a dedicated pediatric psychiatric practice.
All sessions are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant video through our patient portal. You'll need a private space, a device with a camera, and a stable internet connection. That's it.
You may still be seen as a self-pay patient, or we can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. Contact us to discuss options.
Most practices are built for volume. F10 is built for depth. Your provider is Yale and Johns Hopkins trained, dual board-certified, and brings clinical range that most psychiatrists don't — from emergency medicine to surgery to psychiatric care. Here, every session is thorough, every treatment plan is yours, and you will never feel like a number.
